My name is Paul.

I’m a husband and a dad.

I was born with a hearing loss and wear two hearing aids.

Talking to people has never been easy.

Never liked working for someone else.

Called on schools across Arkansas.

Flew to meetings in Chicago, Atlanta, Houston.

Wanted more time with my family.

Not less.

One day in high school, I was standing in line at a restaurant.

A man walked up to me.

Smiled.

He didn’t say anything.

Handed me a small card.

The card said he was deaf and couldn't speak…

and needed help with money.

So I gave him everything I had.

Didn’t think much of it at the time.

Years later, on a Sunday night, it came back to me.

Quiet.

Simple.

I started doing the same thing.

No long lists.

No chasing.

No talking anyone into anything.

One card at a time.
